I have a virus scan program on my PC, why did I get a virus?
New
viruses
come out
daily, if
you are
not
updating
your
virus
scan
program
periodically
it will
not know
about
them.
Even if
you
update
My computer is running really slow. What can I do to make it faster? Get a software that detects and removes spyware, data-mining, and "aggressive advertising" , such as Ad Aware. Make sure you have an updated virus protection program on your system and that you run weekly scans. Running maintenance (scan disc) and defragging should help speed things up, but if not you may need additional memory. Try uninstalling programs that are no longer being used. You should defrag your system after removing or installing new programs. When you install a new program the data is put wherever it will fit. Defragging puts all the information together so that the program runs faster. BACK I turned my PC on, but nothing happened.
First check to make sure you have power to your PC. Make sure the wall outlet has 'juice' to it and that the PC is plugged in properly. If you are using a surge protector make sure it is working and on. If you are sure there is power to your PC, then you need to have a technician diagnose the problem. BACK All of a sudden I cannot connect to the internet. Make sure there is a dial tone on the line you are using. Hook up a phone to the line and check for a dial tone. Then, using the same phone, dial the number you use for your dial-up to see if they are answering. If you hear the 'connection tones' that are normal for internet connections, then it is not their problem. Chances are your modem has quit working. If you have had a recent storm, it may have been hit by lightening. To avoid this in the future buy a surge protector that has plugs for both the power plugs and your phone line. BACK
